Getting started
Is Spenzaa really free?
Yes — and not "free trial" free. Expense tracking, AI categorization, smart budgets and the SpenzaBook ledger are free forever. The Pro plan is there if you want the extras: predictive forecasting, subscription radar, receipt scanning, AI-timed reminders and priority support. Plenty of people never upgrade and that's fine with us.
How long does setup take?
About three minutes. Install the app, create an account, and either connect your accounts or just start logging expenses manually — two taps each. There's no mandatory tutorial and nothing to configure up front.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad (iOS 15+), Android phones (Android 8+), plus a web dashboard that syncs in real time. Your data follows you across all of them.
How accurate is the AI categorization?
Around 96% out of the box. When it does get one wrong, fix it with a tap — the AI remembers your correction for that merchant from then on, so it keeps getting better the longer you use it.
SpenzaBook — ledger, contacts & reminders
Does SpenzaBook read all my phone contacts?
No, and this matters to us. The contact permission exists only so you can pick a person when creating a ledger. Only the contacts you actually attach to a ledger are stored with your account — we never upload your full address book. You can also skip the permission entirely and just type a name; a phone number isn't required.
Do my customers need to install the app?
No. You can run a complete ledger for someone who has never heard of Spenzaa. When you share a statement or send a reminder, they get a normal WhatsApp message or SMS with a secure link showing exactly what they owe — no download, no sign-up.
Can my customers see each other's ledgers or my business totals?
Never. Each ledger is a private channel between you and that one contact. Nobody else — not other customers, not suppliers — can see it. Your overall business totals are visible to you alone.
Will Spenzaa message my contacts without asking?
No. Nothing is ever sent unless you tap send or explicitly switch on a reminder schedule for that contact. The AI suggests the best time to remind — the decision to remind is always yours. Reminder frequency is also capped, so the system can't be used to spam anyone.
Can I use SpenzaBook for personal lending — friends and family?
Absolutely. "I paid for dinner, you get the next one" works just as well as formal business credit. Reminders are optional per contact, so you can keep it casual with friends while still remembering who owes what.
Is a SpenzaBook entry legal proof of a loan?
It's a timestamped record, which is genuinely useful — but it's not a signed loan agreement. For significant amounts, put a proper written agreement in place too. More detail in our Disclaimer.
Billing & account
How do I cancel Pro?
Through your app store, since that's who bills you. iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Spenzaa. Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. You keep Pro features until the period ends and your data is completely untouched.
Is there a refund policy?
App store purchases follow the store's refund process. For direct purchases, we offer a full refund within 7 days if the service didn't work as described — just email help@spenzaa.com. Details in our Terms, section 4.
How do I delete my account and all my data?
Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email help@spenzaa.com from your registered address. Deletion is permanent: expenses, ledgers, attachments, everything. Residual backups are purged within 30 days.
Privacy & security
Does Spenzaa sell my financial data?
No — and we've written it into our Privacy Policy in black and white. We make money from Pro subscriptions, full stop. No data sales, no ad targeting, no sharing with banks or lenders without your explicit opt-in.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Nothing is lost. Everything syncs to encrypted cloud backup in real time. Sign in on a new device and your expenses and ledgers restore automatically. You can also enable biometric app lock so a lost phone doesn't expose your data.
How is my data protected?
256-bit AES encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, optional Face ID / fingerprint lock, and per-ledger isolation so only the right people ever see a ledger. Our Privacy Policy and DPA cover the details.
